High School Football Playoffs a Financial Loser
The Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association's Football Committee reported a financial loss on this year's playoffs.
Bad weather and bad match-ups were the cause of the net loss of $100,000 in this high school football playoffs and Super Bowl Saturday, according to the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association's Football Committee.
"We're go unlucky with the weather," said MIAA assistant athletic director Peter Smith in a Boston Globe article. "We see each year that weather and match ups drive our finances.
In 2011, the attendance was 59,968, and dropped to 49,939 this year, according to the MIAA Football Committee. Both the Tuesday playoff games and the Saturday Super Bowl games were played in snowy weather.
