SIBL Stars Claim Tournament Title in Mansfield

The 10U (9- and 10-year-old players) of the Swansea Independent Baseball League swept five games in two days last weekend to clinch the championship of the Mansfield Summer Tournament sponsored by Mansfield Youth Baseball.

          Combining solid pitching with stingy defense and timely hitting, the SIBL stars posted victories of Wakefield, R.I. (5-3), Foxboro (7-4) and Plainville (3-2) in pool play. Swansea ousted Plainville (7-5) in the semifinal round and rallied late to tip host Mansfield (6-5) in the championship game.

          Swansea roster included Cam Nadeau, Riley Tabicas, Tyler Cabral, Jacob Audin, Riley Machado, Drew Crook, Aiden Branco, Aidan Ramaglia, Sam Watts, Aidan Fyfe, Ethan McElroy, Lucas McElroy, manager Andy Fyfe and coaches Tim Cabral and Scott McElroy.

          Swansea is 7-1 this summer after competing in two local tournaments and will host the North Region Tournament of the Mustang League of PONY Baseball at its Nike Site Playing Complex starting Friday.
