SIBL Teams Enter PONY Baseball Region Tournaments

Three all-star teams representing the Swansea Independent Baseball League will participate in July in Regional tournaments sponsored by PONY Baseball, including two that will be played in Swansea.

          According to SIBL President Andy Fyfe, the league will host the Bronco League-11 (10- and 11-year-old players) North Region Tournament of the East Zone of PONY Baseball at its Nike Site Playing Complex on July 10 through 13. That five-team, double-elimination tournament is expected to include teams from Upstate New York, Metro New York and New Jersey along with the SIBL’s 11-Year-Old all-stars..

          The winner of the Region tourney will advance to the East Zone Tournament which will be staged July 18 through 20 in Cranberry Township, Penn. The zone titleist will earn a berth in the 2014 Bronco League-11 World Series to be contested July 24 through 27 in Chesterfield, Virg.

          Swansea’s roster for the Bronco League-11 Region Tournament will feature Brandon Medeiros, Connor Carey, Devin Machado, Colby Campos, Evan Thro, Josh Ferreira, Alec Jancarik, Robbie Costa, Matt Silvia, Luke Escobar, Nolan Potter, Brandyn Durand, Jared Rapoza, Manager Blake Campos and coaches Ernie Rapoza and Jason Machado.

          The SIBL will also host the Mustang League (9- and 10-year-olds) North Region Tournament at the Nike Site Playing Complex on July 17 through 20. That six-team event will include Swansea’s 10-Year-Old all-stars as well as teams from Connecticut, Upstate New York and Metro New York.

          The Region tourney champion will qualify to compete in the East Zone Tournament to be played July 24 through 26 in Chesterfield. The Zone survivor will travel to Burleson, Texas, to compete in the 2014 Mustang League World Series on July 31 through Aug. 3.

          Swansea’s roster for the Mustang League Region Tournament will feature Jacob Aubin, Aiden Branco, Riley Tabicas, Cam Nadeau, Tyler Cabral, Drew Crook, Riley Machado, Aidan Fyfe, Sam Watts, Aidan Ramaglia, Lucas McElroy, Ethan McElroy, Manager Andy Fyfe and coaches Scott McElroy and Tim Cabral.

          SIBL Bronco League all-stars (12-year-olds) will travel to New Haven, Conn., during the weekend of July 17 through 20 to participate in the North Region Tournament hosted by the Dom Aitro Bronco League of New Haven. Also competing in the tourney will be teams from Upstate New York and Metro New York.

          The Region titleist will go on to compete in the East Zone Tournament to be staged July 24 through 27 in Cranberry Township. The winning entry in that event will qualify for the 2014 Bronco League World Series to be contested Aug. 1 through 7 in Los Alamitos, Calif.

          Swansea’s roster for the Bronco League Region Tournament will be comprised of Nick Gerling, Alex Millar, Marcus Moss, Jared Koger, Lucas Crook, Garrett Lima, J.P. Nasiff, Curtis Perry, Logan Sherrat, Peter Gloddy, Casey Santerre, Tyler Botelho, Manager Dave Nasiff and coaches Dan Gerling and Gary Santerre.
