Seekonk Sees Three New Firefighter Academy Graduates at the Department

The town of Seekonk will see new graduates of the Massachusetts Firefighter’s Academy.

Seekonk fire chief Alan Jack said 68 students recently graduated from the program in Massachusetts at last week’s Board of Selectmen’s meeting.

“I’m happy to say three of those firefighters are from Seekonk,” said Jack.

Jack said the three have been working with the Seekonk department for some time.

“These three firefighters were sworn in back in August of 2012 and it’s taken us this long to get them into the academy,”  “We’re very happy that they’re here.”

Jack said this brings the number of responding firefighters in the town to 25.

“Unfortunately, we’re still short but we’re in the process of hiring,” Jack said.

Selectmen congratulated the three for their accomplishment.

“Congratulations and thanks for you interest in working in your own town and we hope to keep you motivated and give us a good job,” said selectmen chair Nelson Almeida.
