Obituary from Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute of Birchcrest:
William P. McGrath, "Bing", 68, of Fall River, passed away Oct. 2, 2013 after a long struggle with multiple health issues.
He was son of the late William and Catherine (Jackovitch) McGrath and former husband of Barbara McGrath.
Throughout his life, he worked in various fields and was most proud of his career with the Swansea Police Department and happiest when working with children as an officer in the Swansea school system.
For over 20 years, he was a member of the Colonial Navy of Massachusetts and was their drum major as they marched here in the United States as well as Ireland and Portugal.
A talented thespian, he performed in many different roles with theater groups throughout Southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
He leaves his two daughters Shaye L. Brisson and her husband Luke of Tiverton, R.I. and Devon C. McGrath and her fiance' Jonathan Hodgekins of New Bedford; his grandchildren Lilly and Wyatt; his brother Msgr. Jeremiah J. McGrath of Beaumont, Texas; his two sisters Barbara Morrissey and her husband Daniel of Chevy Chase, Md. and Patricia Thomas and her husband William of Sherborn; and several nieces and nephews.
Bing enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his dear friend Betsey Warren and lifelong best friend Alan Robillard.
Visiting hours will be held Tuesday, October 15, 2013 from 5-8 PM pm in the Waring- Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Cherry Place, 178 Winter St. Fall River. Relatives and friends invited. To honor his love of children, contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
