Murder Suspect Will Be Arraigned Tuesday

Murder suspect David Sousa has been extradited from Rhode Island and will be arraigned Tuesday morning for the November 2012 murder of Lisa Mello of Swansea.

The Rhode Island man was indicted for the murder in October and has been in Rhode Island custody ever since, according to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.

Sousa, who is from Warren, RI, and was reportedly Mello's boyfriend around the time of the murder, will be arraigned on the murder charge in Fall River Superior Court at the Fall River justice Center.

Sousa allegedly strangled Mello to death in her home at 500 Ocean Grove Ave., on Nov. 24, 2012, said the DA's office.

The investigation was conducted by State Police Trooper Zachary Johnson of District Attorney Sutter’s state police detectives unit and Detective Patrick Mooney of the Swansea Police Department, said the DA.
