Seekonk Woman Killed in Attleboro Car Crash

She was identified as 42-year-old Jennifer Mello.

Jennifer Mello, 42, of Seekonk was pronounced dead late Tuesday morning at Sturdy Memorial Hospital after crashing her vehicle into a tree in Attleboro, the city's police department reported. The crash took place off County Street near the Phillips Street intersection.

Attleboro fire and police officers responded to the scene shortly before 11 a.m.

"The vehicle, a 2009 Hyundai Santa Fe, suffered significant damage to the front end when it came into contact with a tree just off the side of the roadway," a press release from the Attleboro police states. "The investigation which included multiple eyewitnesses indicated that the vehicle was travelling inbound on County when it crossed into the oncoming lane and continued off the roadway striking the tree."

The investigation is ongoing. It is being conducted by Attleboro Detective Sgt. James MacDonald as well as Officers Karl Williams and Ronald Goyette. Also involved is State Trooper Robert Lima, who is assigned to the Bristol County District Attorney's Office.
