Seekonk Voters Approve Additional Funding For Senior Center

14 percent of registered voters turned out to add additional funds to the construction of a new Seekonk Senior Center.

Seekonk voters approved a measure Monday that will allow a temporary tax hike to help pay for a new Seekonk Senior Center.

According to Seekonk Town Clerk Jan Parker, residents voted in favor of the measure, 803- 568.

Parker said 1,371 voters came out to vote, making for a 14 percent voter turnout.

The approval allows Seekonk to move forward with $386,600 additional costs to the senior center. The funds will be in addition to what was already approved at this year's Town Meeting when $2.5 million was dedicated by voters towards the center.
