Town Electrician and Rec Committee Member Appointed for Seekonk

By Jeff Sullivan

Seekonk will see two new faces at the town hall.

James Troiano and Timothy Moisao are both coming to Seekonk to work and volunteer for the town and were appointed at last week's meeting.

Moisao was hired as the town’s electrician, who will be a part-time employee to work for 20 hours and be on call. Department of Public Works Robert Lamoureux said he recommended Moisao because he has experience in heating venting and air conditioning systems. Lamoureux said HVAC currently costs the town quite a lot of money in contracts since the work is put out to third party vendors.

“One of the benefits having a person like this on staff is we have maintenance service contracts for our HVAC systems, and maybe in the future this position could be put to use to keep the HVAC maintained instead of going out to bid,” he said. “I think it would be an advantage to the town to have this type of position.”

The position was budgeted for this year at town meeting and will not hurt Seekonk’s budget.

“I also have my own business that I run, I think I would be the best candidate for this because I own my own business because I can just drop my tools whenever there’s an emergency,” Moisao said.

James Troiano was appointed to the committee for Recreation and Youth Commission.

Troiano said his four children are involved in the Recreation programs, and he said he wants to help improve the recreation committee.

“It’s one of the most exciting committees in town, it’s just exploded,” said selectman Dave Parker.
